WINDERMERE, Fla. – Tiger Woods tied for last place in his return to competition after four months and found one reason to celebrate.
At least nothing hurt.
Woods muffed two more chips, bringing the total to eight for his week at the Hero World Challenge. He rallied for an even-par 72 and finished at even-par 288, tied for the bottom with Hunter Mahan.
Except for flu-like symptoms on Saturday, Woods said he went 72 holes without feeling any pain in his back. He had back surgery a week before the Masters, and then took off the last four months to strengthen his muscle structure.
Woods says it was great progress to not have worry about hurting, and to be able to swing the driver as hard as he wanted to.
